I wonder how the wealthy who spend a thousand dollars for a ticket to a fancy dinner could ever survive even for a week on minimum wage or S. Security and food stamps.

Maryland is in the process of talking about raising its minimum wage. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Its a bad situation but I think the solution is not rising the minimum wage... a few cents more will not truly help those who are tight now... They rise your hourly pay but they increase your taxes and allow insurance rates to rise... One of the things I would do is offer help to the business owners... lower their taxes and their insurances so that they can in turn hire more employees and pay them better. I Offering perhaps an incentive to small business owners if they hire more they could get a reduction in taxes would be one way... I don't know Lustor... Its complicated. xoxoxo

I am afraid that raising the minimum wage will only mean fewer jobs. Being a business owner I know only too well how I would of loved to hire more people, but I had to keep the business open. Of course it was a small business, only 7 employees, but we could of used 10. There just wasn't enough money to pay ten and many times I went without pay to make sure those who depended on me got their pay. If they would have raised the minimum wage to ten I could of only had 4 employees having to cut all my office help, all the ladies and answer the phones myself. Remember, most people are employed by small business and the ladies in the office, often times do not make the product that is sold to bring the money in. This is a job killer for them.
