We have a wood burning stove in the front room, it keeps the house warm and the coffee hot, but lucky for us we have many forests nearby with dead trees for the taking...Well, you are supposed to have a permit, but no one cares if your not taking a truck load.

Re: Flowers, yes!!! and Wolfy's warning about focusing on the work
I think Ron got the Job Pat ,he did not hear the terms. I turn mine off very often. Sadly when young one does not realise that exessive noise will will damage one's hearing.

Re:
Cash Jimmy, I don't think there is much of a feeling for the event
and it is usually raining. Most who still enjoy the nostalgia go
to a communal fire. Well look there is a good little business
opportunity for you, plenty of wood and I expect you have an axe .
A little notice on your gate firewood at reasonable prices.
It would be safer than dealing on the Stock Exchange.

Re:Rumour
Yes she asked me once if I would go into partnership with her, but I was still conscious at the time and opportunity only knocks once, just like my knees.

Re: Naut
Well Naut a load of blocks delivered here works out at fifty pence a piece I dare not say a log as it is a 12" diameter log chopped in half aproximately. Oh! Free stacking if one buys a full load. I did not think anyone used a fire but Archie seems to have found a niche in the market. Does that mean Beautiful Babe.

Re: Kabu
I suppose if you were surrounded by lakes you would not use water. We used to use oil but I don't know what it costs now I know paraffin is £5 a gallon The last I time I delivered it free it was Two shillings and six pence old money per gallon 12 and a half new pennies. It is now 100 new pennies to the pound it would be approximately 500 new pennies for a gallon. Well bulk it might cost 4 pounds a gallon. Keep warm.

fire works probably have lost their appeal with so many wonderful new things everyday for kids.
fire wood well we don't have wood fires here, we pay a fortune for oil but my Sister in Australia has a slow combustion stove and they don't use it much because wood is just too expensive.
Ms Wolfe's sister is a tough nut!!!1 I look forward to more of her.

If Archie is out of wood I see a huge business opportunity - we've got plenty of that stuff lying around here, ready to be picked up! Tell him to make me an offer...And Ms Woolfy's sister is what we call a BB around here, I guess, LOL...

CCT...Ms Woolfy's big sister sounds like a woman to be reckoned with....
She seems to have a thing for hay - hayloft perfume, picnics in the hay.
..
too bad I'm allergic to the stuff..

Now, when you say 'a thousand pounds worth' of leftover fireworks, do you mean pounds the weight or pounds the monetary unit? Either way, that's a lot of fireworks! And if I had known you had a shortage of firewood, we could have shipped all of the trees we lost last year to Hurricane Sandy! You would have been set for the next three winters . . .
