I suppose Naut this is the price we all will eventually pay for security. It is a phase in our lives that will eventually become the norm. Can't you see those drones hovering over potential crowds with x-ray vision sorting the wheat from the chaff in theory.

Naut
I think moments like the bombing stay in peoples minds for a while. But somehow we manage to revive our excitement for human spectacle. And I hope over time the same will come true for events like the NY Marathon and all the other events like it.

It is sad to see how things have changed...I would have said that to her as well had I been there.

I am afraid that this is the world we now live in, and I can see no end to the security and the long lines...In this they have won, however small, another victory.

It seems the specter of any possible terror attacks has put a damper on many events! I think we were lucky this time . . .

I'm sorry to see this happen to such an event. It should have been
a celebration of health and strength, a testimony to perserverence and purpose. It's one thing for attackers to mess with the military, but quite another when they just take out uninvolved civilians. And yes, I know it's how the world is, now.
