When I think of England, I think of oaks in the countryside, and sycamores (aka plane trees, I believe) in the cities. Oh, and willows alongside waterways and ponds. It's very ignorant of me, probably.
Rates... for leaf clearing? No, that's a private thing. When I was a kid, I was put to raking--a long, slow, quiet job that at the time I considered tedious. But it had a certain rhythm to it. And no one had to wear electronic earmuffs to keep their hearing.
I generally find my orchids and other plants in the sale section, in this case, because it's past prime blooming, for $5.

We rarely get leaf falls so colorful I was only grumbling to someone yesterday all the leaves on the pavement were being trodden into grunge and were slippery. I expect you pay rates though. Like your Orchids they always seem expensive to buy, but I suppose they are a novelty.

and so suddenly, over a night and a day, all the golden leaves are gone... and I can start concentrating on the plants that have come indoors, and see how well they get through the winter.
