Re: Naut
I think his wife will be pinning him down, she said Smokey Joe was giving her the once over as she washed my kitchen floor. Archie seems more interested in his new venture selling kindling wood than exploring her voluptuous figure.Well you know how it is.

Love the story of Archie's 'Elephant path' and his potato spell! There's clearly more to him than meets the eye, and especially on Halloween the people around him had better be careful...

Re: Pat....
We so rarely have roast potatoes that I am feeling bewitched already. That is a bit over the top cheddar as well . You girls certainly know how to live. Of course I know the way to find virgin soil, but as you may guess. No! please do not ask me.

Re:
Yes Jimmy it is a far cry from your safe abode to these wild untamed regions where black panthers stalk at night and hordes of rats run across the roads as seen by Archie on his milk rounds through the old Ancient Wychwood Forests. Of course he lies in bed now and hopes Janey does not wake before he can escape from his tormented dreams.

Re: Justi
JUSTI todays rate is 1.60 dollars to one English pound . Years ago an old man always said things like 'you can have that for half a dollar.' he mean't half a crown which in those days were 8 to the English pound. So presumably at one time a Dollar would have bought 4 English pounds. Of course dollars may have been made of gold in those early days. I expect some of our cleverer guys would know.

CCT....after reading your post today...
I will keep a closer eye on the pigs and the crows and any other "characters" created....of course, I see now how they could always be turned into potatoes...I'll warn the bunch of them to tread softly around your place, especially tomorrow night when they're trick-or-treating..

It seems to me that the moral of that tale is . . . don't rub Archie the wrong way! I think the husband's death was coincidental, but stranger things have happened! No, there are no elephants in this immediate vicinity, nor are there a lot of potatoes. I wonder how those incantations would unfold if one were to use, say, a radish or a cucumber. The Vegetable Gods would probably look down and sneer . . .

Good luck finding that virgin soil....
Oh, and I've found that potatoes do have a bewitching effect, especially when they come baked and layered with onion slices and cheddar. Unfortunately, that "incantation" is a moment on the lips, but forever on the hips.
Love the story, and the Arch(ie) Rivalry.
