having done this type of work, I know it is common for some of the companies to only pay once a month that gives them time to make sure that all the assignments are totally completed all the data has been received. I know it is frustrating, but if you look on the website of the company you are going to do a shop for you should beable to tell when their paydate is.

I remember when I did my first demo...it took them 2 months to process payment. But after that it was much faster.

They must wait for the money to be in the bank before they write the checks, perhaps they are a new company.

well I think they are just understaffed and are having a hard time catching up but if I dont have it by Fri I will file a complaint with the upper management but he wont care

Sadly that is how they work, many a small company has folded because they did not get paid in a reasonable time. Try to get cash in hand in future.

It's amazing how sometimes certain companies will give you no grace period whatsoever when you owe them money, but when it comes time for you to get paid, somehow "The check is in the mail!" is their only recourse. Stay on top of them! They'll have to pay you eventually . . .
