Re: Re: We used to secure tents from high winds with storm-lashing

Ciel we used to do that on the strawberry tunnels when using clear plastic.

I am sure the tunnel shown would take off but it is fine netting

and I am trialling it out as these tunnels have been tested on the Falklands.

Yes you are very clever, I have never thought otherwise.

I have put one or two struts and wires along the length one cannot always rely on what the advert says./

Re: We used to secure tents from high winds with storm-lashing

For a small tent, we drove heavy metal stakes at each corner and ran a rope criss-cross over the tent. From the front stake, the rope ran back to circle the back tent pole, back in the days when poles stuck up through grommets, then back to the other front stake. Likewise, reversed, for the rear stakes and front pole.

I suppose you could call the front one the 'cardinal pole.'

With a tunnel with an internal skeleton, I guess I'd just hammer in a row of stakes on each side, and cross over the tunnel, back and forth for the length of it.

(I'm not telling you all this because I think you don't know, but to show off that I know.)

Yes Chumpet has promised to take Adnohr to see the Fairy Queen in Kabu's wood but I have to wait until Wiley John is better. You can come as well if we go.

Yes Kabu I just don't know how they will stand but I shall soon know. Archie wanted to take the nets off , but I suspect he wanted to earn extra pay.

Re: CCT

No mostly swear words Naut this is the first year

I have tried these tunnels they keep the cats out and birds

and cabbage white butterflies, I have reinforced them it is snow I fear,

The last bad hurricane we had was quite a few years back and was not forecast

22 people died, the slightest wind has been elaborated since.

Perhaps a Blondie was doing your weather at that time and did not examine the gender.

I certainly hope the hurricane spares your tunnel! Do your hurricanes have names? Ours over here always do! We get boy hurricanes and girl hurricanes, and each one is named appropriately. For some reason they always alternate - we never get two girls or two boys in succession - it's very strange. Of course once upon a time we only had girls, but that's many years ago, until some day a boy showed up, right out of the blue...

And your poem is another artful exploration of the subtleties of signals...

Oh, I just love little Chumpet and his talk of what's under his hat...

I hope the wind doesn't damage your tunnel, it's such a useful necessary thing.

I wish you well as you handle those winds...It is interesting listening to the speaker and getting a sense of his thought process.
