Pat..those ideas come and go quickly, at least with me they do if

This would probably have happened about 1923 or 24. I've decided Simon's folks died in the Spanish flu epidemic of 1914, at which time he was twelve. All of this, of course, is carved in Jell-o, so it could change, but I knew men like Simon when I was a kid in the late '40s, so finding people of that era to populate my story will not be an impossible stretch of the imagination.
