Through our woods and park there are numerous signs that say to keep dogs on leash, and to pick up poop. Most people still don't do either.

Geez. Glad he's okay. That's terrible. We have black bears around here. AND coy dogs and wolves and bobcats. They don't bother anyone though. There's a creek behind my house and they just go there to drink. A herd of deer too. It's wonderful to live in the woods so close to nature...in nature. I love it.

I am glad to read that Ben is okay...The trail I walk at requires that dogs be on leashes. Having seen often how some dogs are ready to go at it, the leash rule has helped tremendously.

pepper spray, taser...I can't believe people still won't put their dogs on leads or let them run wild in Woods...I am so comforted that Benniekins is safe and unhurt.

I like CCT's idea - a taser would end an aggressive impulse in a hurry.
As for the feral coyote hybrids, I hope they continue to evade all contact.

Naut what you need is an electric prod. Well Adnohr needs one as well. I bet a poke of that would deter any aggressive dog. In any case I would carry a good stick, poor old Ben I hope he gave the other dogs a good nip.

I am sorry your dog is such a well mannered dog and gets jumped by those not loved or trained. I cannot imagine anyone not being in control of their dog out like that. I can see you love your doggie, as my little grandson would say, love him a big bunch.

It seems simple enough...
People, I think, or so self absorbed these days they simply don't have the thought of being responsible for their pets. It's just sad. I'm glad you two were OK.
Be well,

I'd be livid!
Most places require leashes except in specifically set-aside dog parks. They might not like it, the loose owners, but it is for their protection, and their dogs'.
My doggy daughter says the best way to interrupt a fight is to grab the hind legs and haul them out of the fracas.
