Well the rooks take most of the walnuts from nearby Walnut Trees Taps only two squirrels and the cats chase those. I used to climb the trees and shake the nuts down or pickle the green nuts before they became mature. Nobody seems to know what they are these days.

Right... peanuts don't leave stains.
If my little visitors messed up my deck, I suppose I'd try staining it. Walnut, probably.

Oh, yes, Mother Nature always wins...I would have been doing the same thing too with the walnuts.

Pat
No walnuts here - just peanuts in the shell! It all began years ago when we bought this house, and the peanuts were for the blue jays! Until it became evident that it was impossible to prevent the squirrels from getting more than their share, as well as the chipmunks, of course, who are particularly greedy, according to my LSW. And in summer there are also the grackles...But we have long since given up on taking sides - we just dole out peanuts by the bagful and let all those critters fight it out among themselves...
