oh the one i wanted more than any other doll was thumbalina...it took over a year to get but mom managed to find one for me

One gift and some candy and a stocking...and we were very happy and excited with our World. When I see what my Grandchildren receive, I feel positively ill.

i had a doll that made sobbing noises when left in the sun... i came home from school one day to hear her sobbing and i thought what a terrible mother i'd make... must have really internalized that one... all these years and no chance for children later... age fifty two.

Nowadays, it seems they have the potential to create some very "realistic" dolls! Back then, all the doll did was pee! Who knows what they might make today's dolls do . . .

I read a little true story recently the little girl desperately want a doll for Christmas this was going back to your great grandmothers time I expect. She was really disappointed she received a flour bag with a face marked onto the top half. She did play with it for a time and then forgot and left it on a fence and it rained and the poor little face ran. Kids don't know how lucky they are today.
