There's this little 'experiment' offered at some point in most Psychology 101 courses: Present a scene and have students describe what they saw. It's amazing how different some of the descriptions are! And of course the same thing happens in 'real' life...

Re: Re: JimmyA

I think I would, for one simple reason: I know from past experience what happens when you get caught "bullshitting" someone, even unintentionally. Today, I keep all of my facts simple, and straightforward! I say what I mean, and I mean what I say . . .

I used to confront people but then this ufo came down in my garden and a little blue man (possibly an alien smurf) told me that I was upsetting the universal consciousness and that I should keep quiet...

OK that's not entirely true....  Sometimes I wouldn't confront people

Re: JimmyA

Would you know if you were confabulating?   Just asking.

I don't think I've ever engaged in "confabulating," but I'm sure I've run into others who do! Yeah, your best bet is to simply bite your tongue, especially if the "new information" has no actual bearing on the universe as you know it . . .

I've found so often things I remember clearly

memories from childhood, are remembered totally differently by my younger sis.

I had an argument with w cousin a few years ago about family history. He was making up all sorts of rubbish. Don't suppose we will ever see each other again.

First off, I learned a new word, confabulatation.

Now onto the subject at hand. I, too, bite my tongue when people confabulate. Like you, I find that it only leads to trouble to point out the error(s).
