Re: JimmyA,
News media spread the word faster... like wildfire, you might say. And you know how they love to bring news of disasters. And, like it or not, this is in some part the result of changing weather patterns that bring drier, hotter winds to climates that used to be more moist and temperate. So... yes, the world will have more of this than we are used to, and the media will make sure we hear about it.

Re: CCT,
The problem is that fires don't move over the ground, only: cinders fly on the wind, and land on houses a long way from the tree line. We saw a lot of that here, and of course it is much worse when the winds kick up and carry those cinders even farther. But that's why some houses in a neighborhood burned, and others next door didn't.

It seems that, almost every day, we are seeing, hearing or reading about yet another massive fire out of control some where! Is Mother Earth turning into one big pile of kindling . . . ?

Mine too. I was talking to my son yesterday and he said then that there were more than 200 houses gone, whole little villages.

I must ask Kabu one day why they do not cut swathes of forest down and leave a clear space so that houses are safe from such hazards. Although I know one cannot do much about a volcano or such things that occur in nature

Wildfires seem to be a part of life way too often. So aweful, so fearsome, so sad for those involved.
