Re:

Why, pricklypear? Just because I enjoy Halloween? Isn't that a little extreme to assume? Okay, then I'll raise the stakes! I enjoy Halloween more than Christmas, by a long shot! There! How's my soul doin' now . . . ?

you'll be fine... though your soul may be destined for h-e double tooth picks...

Re:

I do too, C C T. Oh believe me, I hadn't given up hope on anything! I just hadn't expected my wife to go as "all out" as she did. And don't worry . . . we still have plenty of trees surrounding us! Another major storm, and we'll probably have a repeat of the past two years! We're just doing our best to remain optimistic . . .

Yes a woman will survive where we mere men give up Jimmy. I should not think you have many trees to blow down now, so I hope you just get a little friendly to stir the decorations and let you know that all will be well.

Re:

I hope so too, Annicita. Like I wrote, the actual holiday or event is not as important as the fact that my wife feels very confident that it will happen! We just couldn't handle three years in a row . . .

Re: when those who understand us

Same to you, WhiteHat. Yes, as far as my wife is concerned, I am indeed lucky! And I hope her positive attitude really pays off! I'm still sore from cutting up all those tree branches from last year . . .

Re:

Thanks, lustor. With or without Halloween approaching, we still hope that Mother Nature is kinder to us this year than the past two. And perhaps you never liked Halloween because you just never found the right costume to wear! There's still time . . .

Re:

Good for them, MsJudy. I'm glad there are still others who simply enjoy Halloween for what it is. And you're right . . . the little ones are indeed cute in their respective costumes! I can't wait to see what the predominant "look" is going to be this year! For the boys, probably Ironman. For the girls, well, let's just hope it's not Miley Cyrus!

Re: JimmyA

That actually sounds great, Bill! It's a shame sometimes that some people try to connect negative religious meaning and content to Halloween instead of simply enjoying it for what it is. And I can only suppose that those young adults will have to exercise a bit more after indulging in a party serving Dunkin' Donuts and soda . . .

Re:

Really, Kabu? I've actually never heard of that! I really thought Halloween was fairly universal, at least in English-speaking countries! Once a year, you get to dress up in a silly costume ( or a creative one, if you have the time and the means ), let your hair down ( if you still have some ), and party with the rest of the fountain-of-youth-seeking adults! Like I said, it does keep you young . . .

Re:

Glad to hear it, FSI. For some reason, there are certain elements of our society who are actually trying to do away with Halloween, using one ridiculous excuse after another. Anyone who doesn't see the simple fun in Halloween is taking things way too seriously . . .

I love Holloween, with all the decorations, and  especially the little ones in their costumes.  My daughter and her husband already have their decor out as well.

cPMy pastor’s conservative theologically. He doesn’t celebrate Halloween. My last church between both times that I belonged to my home church had an even more conservative pastor. He served a congregation in Arkansas. But he and I organized a Halloween party in the fellowship hall with Dunkin Donuts and soda for the young adults. BC-A, Bill’s R®ST

Positive thinking by your lovely wife...yes that is the best gift she could give you. I don't really "get" Halloween, but then I am an Aussie and we never celebrated it.

I do admire that positive thinking that Halloween will occur this year...Like you, I like Halloween.
