Most people really have no idea how to be good supervisors - I think it's something that must be learned, it doesn't necessarily come natural. Also, a supervisor's bad conduct often masks feelings of insecurity and incompetence...

when I was nursing we used to say that the least competent nurses in the big hospitals got kicked upstairs where they could do the least harm...ie kill someone...

In teaching, I noticed those three "manager" types in actions as well. I would say the positive compelers were the most frequent of whom I saw.

Unfortunately, I believe these scenarios hold true for just about every company on the planet. And all it usually takes is one "snooty douchebag" to ruin things for everyone else . . .

Sounds like you should look out for a different challenge. You obviously have the talent. Either that or just think of it as a way to make a living and let it all flow through you. Nobody will give a monkey in a hundred years time.

I used to feel much like this when I was in the work place, then I became an owner of my own business which is my point, we still have the freedom to do this, but we must protect this freedom if we are to ever climb out of the boxes that hold us down, and to do this, we must defeat the status quo of Washington if we are ever to climb back into the sun.
