Re: CCT,
Maybe you are breeding catbirds... We have those in the east, not here, but I remember them. They make a sound like cats. I don't think they have manes, though. Maybe you have lionbirds?

Well I'll say that Ciel your birds are much more colourful than ours.
Not only that they seem brighter if I put peanuts out in shells
they would be there all winter. In fact they seem to ignore them
even if shelled. The same with sun flower seeds, they like them hulled.
I think there are too many feeding them in winter.
The only thing that brings the black birds in is cat pellets,
they will eat a packet a day and last year the offspring all
had neck feathers that we had not seen before and we called them tiger necks.

Re: Pat,
I am pretty sure that bird is a Northern Flicker, the bird that likes to broadcast his virile presence by drumming on the loudest thing he can find. They do like a nice resonant stovepipe!

Re: FormerStudentIntern.
It's especially fun, when recognizing that this is where the dinosaurs went!

Re: Kabu,
No doubt about it, jays are greedy fellows!
I have a 24x zoom on that camera, a big help for getting shots like that...

I can never stop with just the newest of your photos. What a delight
to see the bluebird, and the very colorful one I don't recognize at the top of the spruce (?) tree. The mountain is so lovely when she wears a veil.

That blue Jay looks to have two peanuts in the beak. That I haven't seen here yet. But I tried unsuccessfully to get a picture of one on top of the Conifer tree like you did with your bird. Must try harder. Lovely pictures.

I love your bird pictures. It so happens that this morning I am cooking for my birdieso--making square seedcakes the size of the hanging feeder. The problem is, they are so good, I keep eating on them.
