Re:
Perfectly understandable, C C T. There's no use going into a restaurant which boasts peace and quiet for their patrons if the food is lousy . . .

It would be nice to have ones own little room or cubicle. I would be the first one in there, if the menu was any good.

I think I would love a place like that. My days are flooded with noise and it stresses me out.

Re:
I'm sure you do, Utah. Regardless of the frequency, on those occasions when you do dine out, I'm sure you would appreciate just a little peace and quiet. Or at the very least, the volume of conversations on the "low" side . . .

We hardly ever eat out. It is a luxury we can seldom afford, but I can understand what you are talking about.

Re: Re: Re:
That's what it takes, Kabu. You end up having to pick and choose both the restaurants, and the time of day you go . . .

Re:
I can't say that I blame you, MsJudy. I feel like that too on most occasions. There was a restaurant that my wife and I found years ago called The Piccolo Cafe, and it was so peaceful and quiet, playing Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett in the background, and the food was marvelous! They moved away, and we haven't found a similar restaurant since . . .

Re: Re:
Oh I do agree about noise and interruptions. Wiley and I often go to Boston Pizza but we try to go lunch time because the evenings are terrible noisy.

If I am eating with someone I just have to talk I don't think I'd like to eat where I could not talk..But I do understand that the noise can upset ones digestion. We don't usually eat where it is that busy though because I don't like being around lots of people.

Re:
I can understand that, Kabu. Yes, asking restaurant patrons to stop talking entirely is probably a bit extreme, regardless of the eatery or the time. But perhaps it can serve as a lesson for people to maybe . . . just maybe . . . lower their voices just a little bit, and take the next table ( or booth ) into consideration. There are certain restaurants that my wife and I went to once, and never returned simply because of the overall noise. People just don't realize sometimes how loud a crowded restaurant can get . . .

Re:
I understand completely, Annicita. My wife and I had once determined that 6:00 was the "peak" time. If you didn't get to the restaurant before then, you would indeed face the possibility of dealing with a somewhat raucous crowd. Then it was 5:30; then 5:00. Now, when we can, we try to go at or before 5. That extra hour can really make a difference . . .

Re:
It's hard sometimes, FSI, but they're out there. Certain "family oriented" restaurants can get understandably loud, and we usually try to avoid those, especially since we have no children. There are a few that generally cater to "adult" crowds, and if you get there early enough, you can actually have a peaceful dinner . . .

Re: I share your thoughts on this one.
Thanks, Straight. I really don't think having just a little peace and quiet while you're dining is too much to ask for . . .

Re:
It is terrible sometimes, lustor. That's why I used the term inconsiderate cretins, because that's what they are! And there are certain restaurants we no longer visit just for those reasons. The food is fine. But the people . . .

We tend to eat in a booth somewhere so that we can talk. Talking together when we are out is different to the day to day chatter at home we find. I would not like to be told not to talk. Would feel like I was back in Boarding school.

I did not know that a noise level could effect one's digestion. It makes sense now that I think about it...I try avoid loud restaurants too.
