I know that I could never come round again and be content with "Home Duties" on my CV. And Naut. is right. Population becomes wealthy, has less children and those that they do have are encouraged to become educated to a higher degree...they refuse to take meneal jobs so itinerant migrants are encouraged as sevants who work hard and educate their children to take better jobs have the good life....now I love the way you have started and I feel a real story here a real one of those that you can't forget you read. Well worth keeping on with.

Yes - I think Naut has a point there. Unless....we turn it around, and the western civilization realises more offspring are needed, and we begin to have huge families again, women will be revered, be treated as queens, have special privelges, because they are the mothers. They run the world on this side, can choose fathers for their children, and it will be an honor for the men chosen...and I'd better stop there....

A very, very complex issue. Without getting too technical - it's not at all likely that we will end up with a kind of nice, bucolic back-to-the-soil trend. And the aging of the population is a phenomenon clearly restricted to the industrialized world - which means patterns of migration causing a whole host of problems, as we can already observe in many parts of Europe...And the upper 1% (or 5 or 10) will play an ever more influential role...

It all sounds intriguing to me, and as a story, it has a lot of potential.
