Really, lion? I don't think I've ever read that particular lament before! Perhaps they knew they were over New Jersey, and were making sure they were nowhere near Lakehurst ( know your zeppelin history ) . . .

It sounds, Utah, like you may have accidentally stumbled upon an interstellar slumber party! Just be careful! When it comes time to gather around the campfire, they may want to melt something other than smores . . .

Re: JimmyA
That wouldn't really surprise me, Sir Wiley. Some of the alcohol content of some of the liquors available today probably could fuel a starship! And there's probably not a lot of vehicles of any type out there where their fuel can double as a mixed drink . . .

I believe you, Kabu, I believe you! Maybe those little green men were somewhat upset because they had already made friends with those rabbits that are now being shot at! Universal friendships can be strong too . . .

Really, TAPS? I hope, after forming those monoliths, that you still at least eat the potatoes! You certainly can't run and hide from the aliens on an empty stomach . . .

Fun read. You are right about most of it....and Close Encounters of the Third Kind was a really neat movie. I'm still forming monoliths with my mashed potatoes after all these years.

Re:
Believe me, C C T, if I actually owned a time machine, you would not be reading any entries from me on Blog-it! I would be jumping from one historical event to the other, enjoying what I could, and "changing things" when the opportunity presented itself! And I don't need an autopsy to learn if there is indeed intelligent life out there. I believe it's a certainty. The fact that they only observe us from afar and have decided not to get in direct contact with us is proof enough . . .

Re: Had I seen something like that...
I'm not suprised, WhiteHat. Mother Nature has a way sometimes of painting certain pictures that can fool even the best of us! I've seen cloud formations that you would have sworn were created by massive fires someplace. But no, they were just the proverbial "dark clouds on the horizon." By the way, had my wife and I not been so tired and somewhat eager to get home, we may have lingered on that particular stretch of highway a bit longer to see if we could indeed discover what that bright light was. Perhaps another night . . .

Be my guest, Kabu. The problem may be, however, that the bulk of the sightings were by Aborigines, and no one seems to believe too much of anything they say anyway . . .

You may be right, mariss. I suppose that, if they can travel through space, they should be able to understand and keep track of various real estate trends! Some mighty fine property up this way . . .

Well I hope the one you caught is secure in your time machine. Could you chop a bit off of it and get it analyzed. I should not think it is very intelligent not like we uns.
I think there are hundreds of dustbins floating around in inner space Jimmy, but it would be nice to know if it was still there,

Had I seen something like that...
I may still be on that road trying to figure out what it was :). What was it? Where did it come from? What if...?
While staying on the Florida shore when I was an adolescent, I remember seeing what I would have sworn was a mushroom cloud caused by a nuclear bomb out over the water. It was very far away, but it had the exact shape I had seen in all the videos of nuclear explosions I had seen. Turns out it was just the moon, colored bright orange, coming up over the horizon between some clouds.
I hope you find out what you saw :).
-Be well

It sounds exciting at any rate! Maybe they got tired of Mexico and South America and decided to swing up to the East Coast and see if that would be a good place to start a colony on earth!

Re:
Imagine that, MsJudy. Here I am, making a pun about something that I'm sure wasn't extraterrestrial, and now you're telling me that it actually could have been! Hmmm . . . well, I find myself in that region on that stretch of highway almost every week! I'll have to pay more attention to that particular area to see if there were any signs of a "landing" . . .

Re:
I think I understand, Justi. Perhaps there should be another category for something ( or someone ) like that. Instead of "Unidentified," it could be "Unfamiliar." Instead of "Flying," it could be "Stationary" or "Slow-Moving." And anything could be considered an "Object," so at least that aspect can remain intact. So, putting that all together, I believe my statement is accurate and correct that we've all seen UFO's, or USO's, or US-MO's, or . . . oh, you know what I mean!

I guess I'll never know, FSI. But like I wrote, as far as I'm concerned, it was a UFO, since I have no idea what it actually was. One can speculate, but until you're absolutely sure . . .

Well, let me put it this way, Naut. If I was a drinker, I would probably have been reporting on various sightings of UFO's a long time ago. And I believe our state troopers wear two shades of blue for uniforms, and most of them are fairly big! Now if they start wearing green uniforms . . .

Re:
Are you sure, adnohr? From what I understand, some of those aliens have a special talent known as shape-shifting, whereby they can morph themselves to look like almost anything! Perhaps a few of those "creatures of the night" you occasionally come across are actually cousins of E.T.!

UFS is pretty much the same I guess. To me is is Un-Familiar Sights. I am sure most things I see in the sky are unfamaliar to me. I am usually driving and I bring my eys right back to the road and tell them about it. "Buddy I can make it to my house before you get there because you don't know where I live". Works every time.

You're absolutely right about the UFO business, I've seen hundreds of 'em, LOL! But: As soon as he began to see little green men, everything changed indeed for our Jimmy - the little green men turned out to big men in blue or grey or whatever the highway patrol cops in NJ wear, and they arrested him for DUI, LOL...
