Perhaps they have come to say hello. You may leave a note in the tree letting them know there will be no stage calls Mr. Hitchcock is deceased. I feel sure they will cry and leave. Really I think they are pretty and like your place.

Well looking at them Naut , they don't look like the wild pigeons that are pretty tame in my patch. Once they would have taken off if one was half a mile away. No these look like some town pigeons that may have been unwanted and their habitat disturbed. I expect they are looking for nourishment Sun flower seeds or bits of the crust which Ben turns his nose up at. If you want them feed them , but it might be too late then. Sorry I called poor old Ben, Sam in a post.

Here, the pigeons are mourning doves. Still pigeons.
Just so you know, the largest member of the pigeon family was the dodo. Be glad they are not flocking around in your lilacs!

My late sister would not only feed all of the ferrel cats, but the pidgins as well and they would wait in the trees for their turn as the cats ate first, sometimes I would see them there in the trees in the morning many hours before feeding time and no cats in sight...Stupid birds.

Yeah, it looks as though they're definitely plotting something. Time to find out if Tippi Hendren is in the area . . .

Hmmm - no butterflies, multitudes of ladybugs here but none at all in TAPS' area, and now pigeons acting odd....this is sounding very mysterious!!

I know that sparrows gather that way toward late afternoon to catch up
on flock gossip - it seems to me they share the events of the day for fifteen minutes or so before separating on their merry way again. There was a very tall holly bush, 20 feet or so, that stood at the end of the driveway of my little house in Seattle - and sometimes they gather in the grape arbor here. Pigeons, though, are not known to gossip much. Perhaps it's just the bird version of Blogit.
