Re:
Absolutely, MsJudy. And I didn't factor in a possible "revisit" with the doctor. Wouldn't it have been ironic if I did go back to the doctor and he needed up prescribing the exact same stuff? I wonder what it would have cost this time around . . .

Re:
That wouldn't surprise me, Utah! And I'll bet some of them may still be potent, for whatever they were designed to do! Like I wrote, anything that was to have been taken internally I wouldn't chance. But skin lotions? They may last a lot longer than people think . . .

Re:
Thanks, lustor. I'm glad too. And it doesn't surprise to hear that you found something to help your daughter, but that the medication is very expensive. It always seems to work out that way! That's why I didn't throw this particular tube away; it was so darned expensive, and hardly used! I think some of those expiration dates may be more of a "suggestion" than a fact . . .

Re:
Well there ya go, C C T! Yet another "aged" lotion that still retained its potency! As for this particular wound, I don't think it was a bite of any kind, because I have had those before and am somewhat familiar with what the end result will do to my skin. This did seem to be more of a reaction to something, but I haven't narrowed down to what yet! All I know is, it looks better than it has in a long time, and I'm definitely going to hold on to this cream for a bit longer . . .

Re:
I won't bet against that, Annicita. And I hate to be so crude and blunt, but sometimes it feels as though the pharmaceutical companies are more concerned about their profit margin than they are about curing anything for anybody . . .

Re:
Sometimes, Against, it works in your favor! Like I wrote, certain medications, like liquids or pills, you're probably better off not taking any chances with. But a cream? Who knows how long it may last . . . ?

Re: Jimmy
You may be at that, Naut. But be warned! Some of your "surprises" may not be to your liking, especially if you left the caps off or loose on anything . . .

I've never heard of that, Kabu, but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. Like I wrote, I think these creams retain their potency for a lot longer than people might think. I am so glad I held onto it . . .

Re:
Could be, adnohr. I'm sure they would love nothing more than for you to simply throw something like that away, and then, a few years later, go out and spend another ridiculous sum for another one of their products. See? Some things are worth holding on to . . .

I was both surprised, FSI, and greatly pleased! Not only did the stuff work after all these years, but I'm sure it saved me a trip to both the doctor and the pharmacist . . .

Glad to hear you hadn't thrown it out! Because eventually you'd have gone to the Dr and that would have cost the dr visit plus a new prescrilption! Here you saved yourself a load of money!

I heard that the dates of expiration is only good for some meds and not all. My daughter has psoriasis type of breakout on her ears and the meds the doc gave her worked but its too expensive to get, wonder what it is
, glad you got that thingy cleared up

Oh dear Jimmy I thought it was my cheque book.
I wonder if you were bitten by something,
I expect you have quite a good immunity,
even a lady-bird can give a little nip, but a spider
can give a nasty bite, I remember gardening
and a little bugger ran across and nipped my finger,
it hurt for quite a while.
About a week ago my heel started to hurt when I was in bed.
I tried to think of something to use as I did not know what it was,
it began keeping me awake. I confess I have not got a medical cupboard
I am more organized than that I just keep things all over the place.
I grabbed a tube of chilblain ointment three years old I expect
rubbed it on and hey presto instant relief and no re-occurrence.

i think those pharmaceutical companies like us to throw those meds away (yes I know some really do degrade but i think most don't) so we can purchase them all over again the next time around

Good for you, for hanging unto that special cream. I may have some similar advantage to what you describe, because I, too, am slow to throw things away.

Sounds to me like you have an allegy to something possibly a poisonous plant that you have accidently rubbed against and it needs this strong medication to clear up the area. I keep creams for some years as well. And I don't know if it is still the same...but those used by dated medications have been sent to poor countries for their use.

Have to wonder if it's not the pharamceutical companies not warning us about limit dates just to sell more...

Triamcinolone Acetonide is quite the tongue twister there.
That is great how that ended up working for you again all those years later.
