If a bat ever has come inside on me...I lie flat on the floor with my head covered screaming just like you describe....I like bats...I really do...just not close inside a house.

We were always getting birds losing balance on the chimney and getting stuck halfway down, once it was law to have a chimney in each bedroom for ventilation purposes I suppose. One of those odd laws that did not make sense. The only remedy off course was to put wire netting over the chimney top.

At my house, when my grandparents had it in the 1960s and 1970s, birds used to fly into the living room window. Fortunately, a large bush that has grown has been a great deterrent. My dad wants me to remove the bush, and I always say, "No."

Pat
Had a bat visit lately, did you? I once announced there was a bat flitting around in the medical library of the Toronto General Hospital (there actually was), when I was looking after that place at night during my student days. It could not have emptied more quickly had I yelled 'Fire'...

Bats in the Belfry
Many young people stop going to church after Confirmation. To get rid of bats in the belfry, Pastor Solomons says one Bishop told the clergy to announce every Sunday that there would be the anual Confirmation service the following month. The bats disappeared. (see A Good Nap by Setaki, posted recently )
