Everybody tries to do their best, I suppose. But for some, it's barely enough. Where are we headed . . . ?

the human experience is to look after our self interests but i like to think that I care for others as well and share what I can with them...even if it is only a pleasant thankyou in the store or a happy smile ... a great poem this for it has evoked discussion.

Okay! There are a few problems, however - often, what people think is in their best interest isn't really, because they don't see the entire picture; what's more, common interests must also be satisfied since, whether we like it or not, we inevitably do live in collectivities...
