Although I don't spend much time in it, I find my bed very comfortable, and it is high so I just have to swing my legs over and am nearly standing already. Wouldn't be so good to fall out of though.

Re: Pat,
I wonder, how many futons it would take to make it perfectly comfortable...?

Re: CCT,
You're right, I do things in a very peculiar way. I will try to be more normal in future, after your model.

Goodness Ciel you seem to go about things in a funny way. I'll tell you what I did.
I have a bed that rises and falls like the Laz e Boy ,,
Now I found the Lazy e Boy was really comfortable
to sleep on if I put a duvet on first. So I moved it into
the bedroom and slept in it for about a month.
Suddenly it did not seem so comfortable so I sleep on
it for about two hours and then jump into the bed,
sometimes I wake and then go back to the Lazy e Boy.
Now Arthur washed his expensive sleeping bag and said
he could not stand the smell of the washing powder,
so he gave it to me, I put it on the Lazy e boy
and put the duvet on the bed. I guess I'll have close now.
If you lived next door I would throw you a bed over the fence.

Like Pat_B, I've had my mattress and boxsprings way, way past the limit. But, they are still comfy, so I hang on. I say to myself, what if i throw these out and get new ones and then don't like them.

I feel for you! Now, I'm one of those people who don't like soft matresses, or even so-called firm ones, since they're still too soft. So I have been sleepping on a very wide and low futon for years! Yes, it's got a bit lumpy here and there, but I don't mind that...

Kinda makes those Serta commercials on TV look very good....
I've had my mattress long past the 8-year limit, and it has developed a valley in the middle so my rear end sinks into it, allowing me to lie "flat." Nothing like a flat lie. As you describe your situation I'm thinking of the princess and the pea, and how it will never be truly comfortable until the fairy godmother of mattresses puts a spell on the combination and turns it into a bit of cloud.
