No Grandma, I wouldn't do it either. You could maybe have a chat with grandson about the reason they are benching him though. He'll know for sure. As you say, he is learning something from this, and I would be very wary of saying anything without knowing exactly what is happening.

I wouldn't do it...1. it might make it worse 2. he might be embarrassed 3. he might be the butt of jokes (especially if this coach is one who likes to single out somebody and make them miserable...don't know if that is the case or not)

yeah, i'd check with your grandson...
my brothers never did like the political coaches when they were in h.s... i think they saw all the "games" that went on.

That is a tough situation for him to be in. I myself see nothing worse resulting from e-mailing the coach though I would check with your grandson to see if he is fine with that.
