Great post! I like the style too. I'm sure Phil does enjoy it as much as his dad does. Prayers for Peter from Quebec too.

Aside from being the best father ever he is so awesome as a man. I am proud of him for doing this and taking his son with him. You did a great job.

Gee, I'd love to join one of those groups too! I grew up on board games with my siblings, and had every single game known to man! I still have several of my own. However, it's hard to find both the time, and worthy opponents, to play! Best of luck to Peter . . .

Re: C_C_T
Horrors! I'm very glad that Son is outgoing and social and will enjoy his group meetups. I am very glad that he doesn't expect me to go along. I am always happy if I don't have to go somewhere. LOL

Re: FSI
Son #3 is the kind of man who goes after whatever he wants instead of sitting around and wishing. I am proud of him for that. He will make a good addition to the group and will help all of them have a good time.

Re: Naut
I haven't played a game other than computer games for ever so long. I always plan on playing Scrabble with my sisters, or Trivial Pursuit with my sons, but never get it done.

Re: swordfingers
Thank you so much for your response and for your prayers for Peter who is deployed to
Afghanistan today. He is my grandson, the son of my fourth son who died when he was 23. I don't do a very good job of keeping my family members straight for my Blogit readers, but that doesn't really matter. It is the thoughts that count, and our Heavenly Father knows who we are meaning when we pray.

I wonder if he has any Cheapass Games.
They were invented to be as cheap as possible. The makers figured everyone already has dice and spinners and player tokens... why make more, which just makes the game expensive? So they printed the boards on carstock, and you place the pieces side by side. There are cards like in Monopoly, also on cardstock, simple black ink. They were packed in a paper envelope, one of those 5x7 ones.
Kill Doctor Lucky has gone on to become a formal board game in a box. It is a sort of anti-Clue game.
Bitin' Off Heads was a dinosaur race, the winner being the first to jump into the volcano.
Give Me The Brain was a zombie-run fast food joint where the workers have only one brain to share for tasks that require some thought. Some of the cards for that: Give me the brain, I have to count the meat. Give me the brain, my tongue is stuck to the floor. Give me the brain, I am locked in the freezer...
I don't know if anyone carries the white envelope versions any more. As with many successful things, the charming roots have receded into the past.

What fun to see your son taking Phil along and enjoying board games.
I'm definitely keeping thoughts on Peter and the rest of our men and women over there, I want each and every one of them home again without so much as a band-aid.

My very best wishes for Peter, of course! And I wonder to what extent computer games have replaced the family get-togethers over Monopoly, Scrabble and the like...
