I love the way in which this poem flows.

I have been back to read this two times. I am tempted to print it off and study it.. read it out loud and such. My first coment is on section one.

I love it.

It is difficult to make a worthy comment to an epic like this is.

Iy pulls at the emotions Jay and for me that makes it good. It is one of those writes that one needs to sit with and analyze each section....Wiley and I often read poetry from blogit and discussit. All poetry needs to be read aloud.

Re: This is a fascinating and complex poem. Jay. As always,

(oops again) your comparisons and your use of words are exciting and original, fun to read.

I was surprised and delighted by Scylla!  I got a peek at it while checking my e-mail and Blogit just as I was going out the door yesterday and never came back.  I love wood- working, especially this kind of stuff that works WITH what nature provides.  My friend Jiggs Hunt has a piece of driftwood he worked on to suggest a shark - scary and graceful. Your Scylla is more accurate  than mine, having more than one head.  I was conscious of that as I wrote, but decided I had to simplify and make it a kind of huge rattlesnake or something.  You created a beautiful piece there.

I agree that it's tedious working on a poem and getting little or no feedback.  As for me, I'm taking a break to get my stuff in order for contests, open mikes, and( haha) publication.  I'll be back, but for now I've pretty much run dry and need to take a break.  For me, Blogit has been more than just internet friends and the excitement of getting read and reacted to.  I've come to see its biggest benefit is the discipline of having something ready to post every morning  - that's the main reason I now have over 600 poems after only 3 or 4 years of writing poetry.  I consider (almost) every one of them as a possible work-in-progress in need of some tweeking - and pruning!

Enough.   In these matters I think you and I have a lot in common.  Writing poetry and getting to know other poets has been one of the greatest blessings of  my later years.
