Re:

Who knows, lustor? You may be right! Perhaps if I was a little older, a little wiser, and knew exactly how to promote myself, it might have taken off as a new form of art. But when you're a teenager and you see Cheese Doodle crumbs all over your painting, you naturally assume that the work is ruined! And like I wrote, where that particular painting ended up is anybody's guess anyway . . .

Re: jimmy a... funny story... i was intrigued by the object everyone was

I've heard that too, swordfingers!  I've seen my share of "unusual" paintings over the course of my life, but nothing that added Cheese Doodle crumbs to the final piece! If you read my response to C C T, that may help you to understand where I stand as far as art is concerned. But, like you say, at least I can write! And write I will! Hopefully I'm getting closer and closer to having my short stories published! Forging on . . .

Re:

It would have indeed, Kabu! I honestly don't think that mice would be attracted to the general look and smell of an oil painting! But when you add some "cheese flavoring" to it, well, that might be a whole other ball of wax! Who knows what the value would have been then . . .

Re: Jimmy...

Not necessarily, Rumor. In my first year of art school, most of the paintings and illustrations were simply class assignments, and weren't really anything I would have either kept for myself, or put into my final portfolio. It got graded as is, and that was fine by me. And you're absolutely right . . . I was "cheesed off" when I saw that orange-freckled piece! But, I can laugh about it now . . .

Re:

I really wish I could use my left hand, C C T. Ironically, my father was actually ambidextrous, but neither I nor any of my siblings are! Yes, I hate having those particular talents fade away as well, but sometimes life deals you a certain hand that you simply have no choice but to play . . .  as is! It might actually take a full Blog to explain my ailing hand, and it is something I never really wanted to bring up. But I'll tell you what. As ambiguous and confusing as it might end up sounding, I will tell you plainly and exactly what actually caused my right hand to be "destroyed." In a nutshell: I was "forced" to lie on a bunk bed on my stomach, supporting my body weight with my arms, drawing thousands of very small illustrations with colored pencils on out-going envelopes, from 8 in the morning to about 5 at night, every single day for 9 straight months! Even now, every once in a while, I have to hold my arm down at my side to get the feeling to return in my right hand. I have difficulty holding a pen or utensil for any length of time, and brushes are simply out of the question! That's really the answer to your question. And I guess, all I can say at this time is . . . more info to follow! Some day . . .

Re:

Is that what it takes, FSI? Perhaps if I had attempted to rob a Cheese Doodle factory someplace and then claimed I was just doing research for my next "oil on canvas" project! Then that painting might be worth something . . .

Re:

That's what I've heard too, Utah. Unfortunately, litigation was very different in those days, so there probably wasn't some big corporation to sue simply because of "operator malfunction." Oh, and I think the postal service may have been involved in that lawsuit as well since the "final product" was mailed . . .

Re: Jimmy

A very apt title, Naut! However, there are probably two very unfortunate endings to this particular tale! First, JimmyA isn't a famous painter, nor probably never will be! And second, I've no doubts that once I received a grade for this particular assignment, I'm sure that canvas was either gessoed over to make way for yet another masterpiece, or was tossed altogether! Somehow I'm leaning toward the latter . . .

Re:

That's very true, Annicita. And to be perfectly honest, there are actually times when I'm not really sure what I'm going to write about next, as far as Blogs are concerned! And then, something out of left-field pops into my head, like my oil painting covered in Cheese Doodles crumbs, and -presto! - writing fodder! Hopefully people got a kick out of reading this . . .

Jimmy...

I'll bet you were really cheesed off when you discovered what had happened...seriously, I'm sure you must have put a lot of work into it, and all for naught.....

WEll when one sees the paint slapped on some canvas and valued at a lifetime's wage I feel I could destroy it without feeling any emotion. I am sure your work must have been better than a good many offerings. How did you hurt your hand if it is not too painful to reveal. Could you not try with the left hand, a shame to let talent just fade away.

That is great to read that the professor worked with you...I imagine that it would be worth a lot with notoriety.

Well you would surely think so Jimmy, just a little bit of ear blood did the trick for some Dutch guy. I'm sure it was a shaving accident.

Jimmy

I guarantee it: If JimmyA were a famous painter today, collectors would fall all over themselves bidding for his forgotten piece 'Torso with Cheese Doodles'...
