well we are in the mnts we are a mile high city, and since I moved here almost two years ago we havent had this kind of rain

That's why I'm so thankful my wife and I live in a mountainous area. We do have a few creeks and small rivers nearby, but when we have heavy rains, their overflow is relatively contained. No, our biggest worry now is high winds! Hurricane Sandy showed us last year just how vulnerable our trees are ( very tall evergreens with very short roots! ). Mother Nature is not to be taken lightly . . .
