There are a lot of different theories about why we dream the way we do. I am school of thought that dreams result in what we are focusing on, therefore, if I saw a thespian, it would be because of thinking about them a lot...I too wonder what causes nightmares and why dreams sometimes manifest themselves that way.

I'm not really sure if it means anything! Dreams are so variant, so interpretable that at times it's hard to make heads or tails of them! Personally, I don't remember ever dreaming about an actor or actress, from any time period . . .
