An ear in formaldehyde is always interesting! You can put it in a drink and have people sip it, as they do with the old toe at Dawson City in the Yukon; they call it the Sour Toe Cocktail. But of course you don't get to keep the toe...

Perhaps you would gave done what I told our friend below kept
the choppers to crimp the pastry.
I knew a party once the young man gave his betrothed a canary,
she chose a more robust character.
The young man and his mother came and demanded
the return of the bird and cage.
The girl's mother stood defiantly on the small caravan steps.
'Canary I can't see no canary,'
I don't how she got away with it but the cage and bird was in the window afterwards and she told me what had happened.

Well now I had a comment in mind on your report of the day,
something nice about the shopping and change, but your poem completely wiped it out of my mind. There are so many ways an affair can end, but I'd never in a million years have seen this one coming. If I'd received this letter I'd have died laughing.
