hmnnn I knew someone who was always late...they would say sorry and start talking about other things before you could complain. Selfish and conceited. What makes them more important than anyone else.

I guess I am expasperating to others on casual situations. One of the reasons I would rather travel alone, and tell people not to wait on me, but to go ahead. However, if I have promised a ride to someone who needs to be somewhere, I make sure I'm a bit early. So I have some concept. A great poem - very clear as to its meaning!

I once had my in-laws over for grilled steaks but they were an hour late getting there. I thought it was very rude of them and "steak" of all foods don't come cheap!  In the future, when I told them the time we would eat, we never waited on them again.  Funny, they knew I meant business the first time they showed up late and we had started without them so after that, they were usually on time!

My father is like that though he has gotten better with time.

I have a close friend who fits this to a "T." Unfortunately, my wife has a very limited grasp on the concept of time management too. Something that she thinks will only take five or ten minutes will end up taking her over a half an hour, and of course, as a result, we're late going somewhere . . .

Mama used to make everyone wait after she got older.

They knew she'd be stalling around, not ready when they picked her up, so they'd tell her the thing they were going to was 30 minutes earlier. She saw through that. We all said she'd be late to her own funeral, and believe it or not, there was a problem with the elevator and we had to cool our heels in the chapel for half an hour before they carried her up the stairs for the visitation. Maybe that's not amusing to some people, but it tickles my funny bone.

These are the worst of controllers. They assume more importance if they are late because no one can miss their entrance. Insecurity is self evident. I believe you and I would get along as well in the same neighborhood as we do on the same blogging site. Good post.
