I always get concerned when I smell smoke and I would for sure if I lived in a mobile home. I can't believe he did not realize he needed a permit to burn! Good thing you checked it out with the manager.

Fires are dangerous no matter what the area, or the season! Sometimes people think they have it under control, and before you know it, thousands of acres and dozens of houses are gone! Have people learned nothing yet . . . ?

You did the right thing...the fire could have swept through the park and become another tragedy for the town ...and you dear friend. Sometimes Gov. is overbearing and at others they are too lax. One can never figure it out.

I am not too keen on people building fires outside like that in the summer either. My county does not allow it.

Laws and enforcing seem problematic. They are in place. When the police are called, the violation is found. Yet, had you not inquired it may have been a disaster. My brother and uncle had a habit of setting a fire then going off to who knows where. The fire would get out. The firemen came. Eventually, both were warned that they would go to jail the next time. We became vigilant. We put out their fires so that our property was not destroyed by fire. Both are institutionalized now.
i think your neighbor will do it again. Report aid he does for your safety.
