Around here, house prices are rising steadily, including those of my own. It's nice to sit on a pile of money, and sometimes I think it might be nice to just cash in. But since I would just have to buy another expensive house, to keep my money I would have to live in a tent, not a good idea in a Canadian winter...

Yes it is location FS some wrecked houses are practically given away, but only a nut case would live in that environment. Thank you.

Re: Adnohr
Perhaps I should do it one day as a joke and see what transpires. A bit late methinks.

Re: Pat
We have a scheme started to help first time buyers but this is fine if the interest rates do not rise, a few years ago they were 10% . A bit different at present but the day will probably come. Thank you.

Re:
I think a few more thousand US dollars would be needed Justi it is the building plots that are so expensive especially in built up areas as there is a restriction on green land.

These days the rents are going up - so many got swamped
by the bankers and brokers at the height of the housing bubble, bought into houses that were overpriced and which they could never pay off if anything happened to the economy. They just won't risk investing again, even if they can get the credit, so those who own property can rent it out at a profit. Sad, really.
I really enjoy your wistful romantic poems.

You're right of course. When people stop spending, interest rates are lowered to stimulate the economy...umm ...put more money in pockets of the rich who live OFF the investments, and often the ordinary family end up getting into trouble financially. A vicious circle. I wouldn't laugh at your note on the gate. I think it's cute, even if you fo refer to yourself as a target.

I remember when Josh Gabber sold his house a couple years ago. He told me that in other areas, one could buy a similiar house to his for three quarters of what he was charging. It is something how housing prices vary so much...A very interesting reflection by the speaker of the poem.
