Touching and very well-written. I'm afraid my Ginny is showing signs.

I think most of us will encounter this tragic personality change, I know the poor dear will not be able to cope with the cats. Some nursing homes do not use drugs, but I expect that is a very expensive set up. This is a one man situation Jay and it is hard work without a family to contend with.

I so remember what that was like as my Dad's Alzheimers progressed. At least there were no cats involved, but he would run off every chance he got because he wanted to "go home". He was home, but he didn't seem to know it. Such a helpless feeling for any caregiver.

Dementia is difficult on all close. Watching a loved one or caring for one can exhaust the body and mind. Please do something to relieve the related stress. If you must find an assisted living facility to ease her into, it may be good and better in the long run eventually.

Poor darling lady. i remember nursing one elderly lady, I had to sweep the scary thing from out under her bed every night. the other ladies in the ward would get the giggles as I swept around with a broom...ran into a dr. in the corridor one time....I wish I could help you dear Jay...am thinking I may need help here soon.

A sad scene, Jay. I suppose you will feel like you are betraying her if you try to get her help from Social Services?
