murder.

A watch watchers master piece Bob, and being one myself, I just loved it.

Great poem... I've been there and done that :-)  Still do, more often than I would care to admit..... Loved the train image... for that is how it feels to me some times... as if I were on a train and pictures of my life were rushing through the windows of my mind... what I have done... what I havent and must do... Its as if my body were sleeping but my mind kept on going and there is no rest.  Waking up tired and anxious.  Excellent work!  xoxoxo

Re: Bob...a good analogy...

Thanks - an analogy is what I intended it to be.  The literal ride that made me think it was endless was an 18-hour Greyhound from Miami to Baltimore.  The way I described that ride was to say that, between rest stops, I just sat still until I fainted.

Re: In my effort to make it vivid, I didn't notice that the poem

probably HAS to be understood as a literal train ride!  I wrote it while in the hospital and was referring to the impossibility of sleeping there.  I dreaded nightfall because I knew the sleeplessness that was coming each night.

It may be the miles "clicking" by that's actually keeping you awake . . . !

Bob...a good analogy...

Sometimes a train ride can seem never ending, juts like some nights and our attempts at sleeping...

I like the clock bit having experienced that situation. I have not been on a train for ages.

I do remember being late and jumping into a ladies only carriage, I suppose I was young they did not remark.

I have only had two rides on a train.
