OUTSTANDING

This is my vote for best post of the last year. Very powerful and true.

Mussolini was right: fascism IS the commingling of corporate with government power, and as Gore Vidal recently pointed out, already a truism here in the US. We do not have a democracy here: that's for the American Idol watching, flag-waving, Wal-Mart-going fraidy-cat fools to believe. We are, in fact, ruled by a totalitarian government, one not only commingling with corporate money, but allowing a third, even more vile, entity into their orgy: state-sanctioned and ordered religion. The three together create an unholy trinity that will, in all likelihood, extinguish life on earth. And such an end has already begun: the signs are everywhere, ignored only by the cave-dwelling fearful, who refuse to face facts and fight back.

A truly independent populace, one truly committed to the ideals of self-governance and self-detemination, would never have allowed corporations to assume legal personhood; would never have allowed the education industry to become the spirit-killing indoctrination factories they are; would never "prepare for peace" by perpetual war; would never allow a fanatical group of fundamentalists access to the highest echelons of power; would never have allowed a government to run trillions into the red; would fight and die rather than allow over 60% of our tax dollars to fund death and destruction.

Our choices become starker with each passing day. Stop this madness, or be complicit in its crimes against humanity, many billions of which stand to perish because we just can't buy thong underwear any cheaper than Wal-Mart, and hey--it's not MY fault that sweatshops exist, and if YOU DON'T LIKE IT LEAVE, SADDAM LOVER!

Pathetic.
