So much of what you write reminds me of things in my background. I had forgotten all about Mr. Shmidt, and I really liked him back then. He was my highschool music teacher. His right arm/hand was a prosthesis with a carved and painted wooden hand that was a little worse for the wear. For one thing, it needed a new paint job. He always led the singing with that arm. With his good hand, he turned the pages of the sheet music. He was never grouchy or complaining and he made all of the teenagers love to sing.

Sounds like he lived in a very enlightened and compassionate
community of people. Listen to your doctor(s), Jay. Heart problems are very strange and uncertain territory. I won't be fullly recovered from mine till Halloween, I'm told.
