Boy, do I agree!  He had me from the first moment, when he dragged his fingernails down that blackboard - a genuinely fascinating man to watch!  Singing his song as they left port, and telling his memories of sharks when his cruiser sunk - unmatchable!  As Henry VIII in A Man for All Seasons, he was just an interesting figure.  Did you see him as the terrorist in the original Taking of Pelham 1 2 3?

Bob..I just wanted to briefly comment on this poem and..

the movie "Jaws" - one of my all-time favorites...we have it on dvd and watch it around late spring-early summer...I thought Robert Shaw stole that movie as far as acting's concerned.....

Re: It may just be my age, Jay, but I also miss a lot of the dialogue

these days.  I don't think the actors are speaking as clearly in their efforts to make conversation sound realistic.  Incidentally, I won a haiku slam in downtown Suffern last night, and Ginny was with me.  I never win anything, so it felt good!

Re: Maybe, Kabu, but it made a great yarn. Robert Shaw was great!

Extraordinary talent was there to entice our imaginations though, was it not? I like the way you write it.

I think this is the secret to the old black and white movies, so much was left to our imaginations, imaginations that were larger than film...Great post. I will catch up on those I missed.
