Try hard to go. There is strength in numbers.

Right now, I'm sure it seems like a long way off, but where does the time go?  One can't help being a "Mom" and wishing.....  But, you will be so proud of him, and he will be proud of himself.   Walking pneumonia is nothing to sneeze at.  Hope she gets rid of it soon.

Blue feathers

I feel like I know your children and their mom like she was my daughter. Good for your son, my oldest son joined the RCN and has grown into a man of 53 now.

That's a double whammy - being worried about your daughter's health and now your son's decision to join the armed forces. You're going to need the tea.

probably going would help to find a network of other Mothers feeling just as you do. it is tough when that bundle of love is suddenly a man.

Yes it is a rather sad time for a Mother or a Father when their child leaves and becomes a soldier. I don't know if I would go to the meeting or not, but I quess you will decide what is best.

I have felt conflicted about attending different events as well.

I joined the Marine Corps when I was 17 and I quickly learned that the best thing you can be in the service is an officer. I hope your son has an opportunity to go to officer training school, they will put him through collage for a 6 year enlistment and he will be safe.

Those are some big changes to deal with! Having no children, it's sometimes difficult for me to equate any emotions with such events. I'm sure he'll be fine. And I hope your daughter can tackle that pneumonia soon. That's not something you'd want to have linger for any length of time . . .
