I find almost every male fiction writer can't bring his female characters really to life. they remain shadowy, misterious...sad really for women can write well about men. That book sounds exactly like what I don't read. LOL

Interesting and thoughtful review
I mostly read nonfiction but I think maybe I'll expand my horizons and bit and read more fiction

As a person with a degree in History, this book sounds very intriguing.

I can remember attending crowded poetry readings, and girls going gaga over certain long-haired hippie poets, but all that $$$? Nope. Most times an interested spectator would have to pay for the poet's wine or grass to claim first dibs on after-show conversation. Bukowski sounds like he was wishfully thinking....

Thanks for the heads-up, LOL. I had sort of made a mental note to take a look at Mr. B., but I'm always glad to be able to eliminate something from my longish 'must-read' list...
