Okay, TAPS,

This is absolutely great writing. You're alright.

TAPS

I must confess that I am singularly uninformed about my neighbourhood! I only know the ladies and the few men who have dogs, and often I know the dogs' names, but not the names of the owners...And I don't know where they live either...And if anything of interest were to happen here, I would probably be the last person to find out about it, if at all, LOL...

I couldn't see the pic...neighborhood watch is a good thing...it has caught many a criminal but nothing is perfect....

I thought neighborhood watch was not about watching your neighbors but rather to watch where your neighbors and you live to prevent crimes being commited  loll... I think it can be a good thing.  In Spanish we say "neighbors are better than family because they are there"  BUT... coming from Cuba... my parents detest Neighborhood watches.  In communist countries like Cuba, they have in each block what they call "Committee  of Defense"  which is nothing but one of the families in the block whose job is to watch the rest.  That one family knows all the others , who belongs and who doesn't, but they ( and I mean all of them... Mother , father, grandparents and children...) also know what all other families in the block are doing at all times.  Those people do not work.  They just sit and watch all day long and they report to the government ( G2) what they see..  Imagine trying to hold a disident meeting in a house in that block!  Impossible!  Its a very effective way to control the population and a very hated concept for those that are being watched.

Be well Taps and I am sorry I went off  loll.

Our neighborhood watches out for each other.

It's difficult for me to watch my neighbours here - too many leafy trees in the summer, and high snowbanks in the winter. I do get to watch their doggies who wander over .... It would be something I would enjoy - I like to people watch.

Re: FSI

As it turned out, it wasn't the neighbors he needed to watch.  The danger was on the inside of his home.  A servant killed his lover and two of his children and four servants and burned Taliesen, his beautiful home.

Like you, I like to watch my neighbors in actions. I remember Frank Lloyd Wright designed a house that enabled a person to better watch his neighbors.

neighbour hood watch is a great idea...one just has to be sure that the right people are doing it and that they follow orders...call 911 and wait for back up and stuff like that.

There are several retirees and elderly people on our block ( we live on a dead end ) and my wife and I are always diligent in looking around to make sure everyone is alright. We're not nosy or spying, but sometimes seeing something "out of place" could save someone's life . . .

I watch my neighborhood - say Hi to people if I'm outdoors, and

pretty much know the routines of those who live nearby.  It's part of knowing what's going on around me, and yes, I'll admit, I'm a bit nosy.
