Probably not. I think that, down deep inside, a person knows if they are crotchety, and usually feel that they deserve to be that way.

well I find you refreshingly honest and generous of Spirit...Now what you have described here is my Sister....Happily married to the little rat for 50 years...that is what has brought on her depression and yearning for he is....well never m ind but I don't believ ethat crochety describes our Taps!!

Well, if being crotchety, regardless of one's age, is simply speaking one's mind against something that irritates us or rubs us the wrong way, then we're all crotchety to an extent . . .

There's money in being crochety - I'm thinking of those cartoons and
greeting cards featuring Maxine (Crabby) - the old lady in a gardening hat and sunglasses, her hair a mass of frizz, usually with her little dog at her feet.
Oh, and this: sharp tongue, sharp mind. Not a bad thing.
