I could never understand why people kept making that claim. Of course it's got to rain in California some time! Rain is important, but they can keep all that thunder and lightning! Too dangerous . . . !

Occaisonally that happens in Baltimore where one hears the thunder right above them. It always startles me even when I see lightning and know that thunder of some sort is coming.
