Re: Re: Mia890

Ahh, we DO have a fair bit in common! Beating around the bush is exhausting - I'm more likely to smash through the center and hope there aren't any thorns

I came to Blogit because I heard about blogging and did not know what was a blog, what was the purpose and to make money after loosing a job without prospects. So, I jumped in here and joined.  I was attacked in the worst way by a blogger who persisted in being insulting and degrading.  It took about 6 months before the person was removed and can no longer write.

This was a religious person.  I did not object to the comments on my post because criticism holds a two fold purpose to correct wrong and help improve. As a 20year veteran educator, I know the process.  There is a difference in value judgment and objectively critiquing work.  I do not feel my purpose is to correct anyone.  I just want to read and write here. I will take class if I want correction.  That/this is my view.  What I find offensive, I do not comment on and will not read that person again.

Re: Mia890

You are a real sweetie, and I would have contacted you sooner, but I though I had better leave a little breathing space.  I could have tried to be less blunt in my comments, and should have, but I have never been one for beating around the bush.  Sorry.

TAPs

I'm glad you left the comment - if you hadn't, I wouldn't have learned valuable lessons as a writer (and as a person) about being careful with generalizations and wording things more clearly.

I'm also hoping things will calm down soon - stirring the pot has proven to be terribly stressful (especially thinking that I'd upset you, which disturbed me more than I can express here).

If they had a picture of an olive branch, I'd put it here

Re:

As I told Ciel in an answer to an email, I have always liked Mia890's posts and comments, and am glad she is here.  In a way, we have much in common, LOL.  She got my attention with her post, and I got her attention with my comment.  Hopefully everything will get back to normal.

I admire your honesty and I admire the fact that you didn't just close your account. This has ended being an exercise in learning how to write better for someone like me..re making generalizations, and in accepting views different to one's own. I like both of you.

bogit...friends 4 ever!!!!! Enjoy that coffee love.

Re: Naut

The misunderstanding is that I have misunderstood and am angry and hurt.  The root of the whole matter, my comment saying the post was a bad one, was totally because of the whole generalization of the matter of those "born again" and those who are muslim.  Generalizations of any people of race, creed, culture, religion, whatever is not good writing.  The second post was so much better in that the writer spoke of emotions, personal experiences, and didn't run down any groups of people.  You can write about me as much as you want, as long as I am not lumped together with anyone else.  I am unique.  I am worthy of individual note.  Go on with your series, just remember that I am reading.

Dear TAPS

Oh boy! I know you know I would never want to offend or hurt you – I’m sure you know that I would never denigrate anyone’s faith!

You are one of the people that keep me here at Blogit, and there aren’t all that many! And you have often inspired me to think about things, as you did this time, if inadvertently, LOL.

I’ve read Mia’s latest post (another excellent one!) as well as your comment, and I’m sure this ‘storm in a teapot’ is over. If I go on with my ‘series’ it’s because this ‘event’, insignificant as it was, nonetheless had me reflect on a lot of things, and some of these reflections will find their way into it. I will probably change the title at some point, even though the idea of a ‘misunderstanding’ here is very much part of what is of interest in this whole debate...

Yes I have begun to just send bad vibes rather than be sarcastic, but it is not so much fun.  Can you Tap Dance?

It's tough sometimes to let a post or a comment just roll

like water off a duck's back -  especially when a response is in order. We're learning from you Taps, and it's all good.

I never read your comment because I chose not to comment on that post, but if I would have I would have stood by you, even though I don't know what you said. It seems that those of us with a religious background are always under attack, and I am not saying that was her intent, but it sounded like it was...

Yes Taps... Sometimes Blogit apears to be a mutual admiration society of sorts... and to be honest it, to a degree, it is... but we do have unbelievably good writers in here... So good are our friends that inspiration flows free from one to another and sometimes a theme will run across many bloggers before we either get tired of it or simply run out of angles to write about... For myself, I rather have an honest critic of my work... bad or good.  Knowing our faults is the only way to grow past them and though it is pleasant and ego inflating to hear only good things about one's work, it is by  pointing out the mistakes  that we can help one another. Having said that... I have been guilty of not responding to a bad post rather than criticing it...  Be well my friend...xoxoxo

You called it like you saw it, TAPS, and that's not a bad thing. Whether a comment is pro or con, I believe it can only help a writer learn and grow. And yes, it certainly did stir things up - the result being some excellent posts by some excellent writers, of which there are many in Blogit, you being foremost in the minds of many.

Not responding can be an option, unless it is something potentially dangerous that should be addressed.  Tea is what I drink to soothe my feelings and get some energy.
