Bill..
One summer we were camping up north with friends and went hiking in the woods...all of a sudden there was a snake in front of us, charging us as it were - no rattling involved)...my friend had time to grab a fallen branch and smacked the snake with it, until it backed off...we must have invaded its territory....to this day we have no idea what kind of snake it was..

I live minutes from the mountains and the desert. Mountain lions, bears, snakes and things...Once we found a scorpian in the front room, while deer hunting, I found a lion track inside one of my tracks from early in the day. have snakes in my yard and a red fox. Three years ago, just twenty minutes from the house a child was taken by a black bear, but I find they are just like we are and want to be left alone.

Not recently. Once when I was young, I wanted a big rock for a certain place in the flower garden, I lifted up a big flat one and nearly died as there was a very large ringneck snake coiled up with a jillion baby snakes wriggling and wrything. Scared me to death.

I did just the other day. I was walking on The Trail and thought I was walking over a stick, but it slithered. Thankfully, Maryland is not home to any snakes.

I did once with a snake. I walked in a field behind our place. Climbed the fence and saw a snake after a little walk. I turned and quickly headed back. I turned around then started a swift walk. I looked back at the snake. It started chasing me. I ran and jumped the fence without touching it!
