Re: UtahJay,
How many generations have been given that label?
I think we have to not accept, and bear with, but call them on it, these kids with no manners, and no sense of community, of social contract.

Re: TAPS,
I think you're right: this is the sort of entitlement behavior of children. I do think they can still be taught--some don't actually mean to offend, it simply doesn't occur to them.

Re: CCT,
My beans seem to be fading before they get near to beaning. I suppose it could be the winds we get here every so often, that seem to scorch them. Or maybe there's something worse... viruses or something.
Nice husbands don't go out confronting neighbors. I know. I've had one.

Re: Kabu,
With that solution, I won't hear them complaining.

Had to laugh at your response to Pat-B. The me-myself-and-I generation is alive and flourishing; unfortunately respect and consideration are not.

I'm a relatively young person, and I gripe about them too! Between you and Jimmy, I'm going to be stewing for hours about this apparent trend in inconsiderate behaviour!!

A couple of loaded questions indeed. I do have something of an answer over in my current blog. Check it out . . .

Lack of manners, lack of consideration for others and all that 'good stuff' has become endemic, it's part of our culture now. And, as is the case with all social phenomena, the causes are hard to define. Some people put the blame on Spock, and while there's some justification for that, it's like saying WWI was caused by the assassination of Franz Ferdiand and Sophie at Sarajevo in 1914. Yes, and also very much no...
Another question is always to what extent one should hold someone responsible for doing things that are just part of a general social trend - my answer is always one must, regardless of the trend, but that's just me, LOL...

It never ceases to amaze me how rude some people can be. At the car washes, there are some people who have their car stereos blaring, not even stopping to think how others might feel...I am glad that I live in a quiet neighborhood.

No, no one has taught them, not their parents (too busy making ends meet) not their schools (it is not taught anymore) and certainly not their television shows. This is a lost generation.

I think it is a matter of "the world revolves around me" syndrome. I'm not sure there is much you can do about it. Parents have to begin, when their children are first born, to teach the to be considerate of others. I think most parents gave up on that a long time ago.

I suppose you could wear ear muffs, but then you would not hear
a burglar creeping around. I think you have got to be tougher,
or get a nice husband and then you could wear the ear muffs
and sleep in peace. What do you think Ciel I just noticed today
a cluster of beans on one of my plants. What a nuisance
I don't feel much like beans as it is hot. Well and I am a has been.

Re: Pat,
After considering this suggestion for a few happy moments, I realize that they'd probably shoot back with real guns. This is Colorado, after all.

What you need is a nice laser pointer and a sound effect that
sounds like the safety clicking off on some kind of serious weapon. First the laser, then the click. If that doesn't break up the noisy party, then I'm at a loss.
