Some cannot understand the importance of timing. The do not do age appropriate activities or events at the appropriate time. It is either too early or too late, never in sync with others or a system. It is unfortunate for the couple. Grown children often attempt to remind the parents that they learned to be cautious and caring from them. Also, it is take the advice you gave for now it is role reversal.

Maybe it was, as Ciel said, on the bucket list of that couple. Sad. Nice that your son thinks of you...and I have a feeling your insistence was just to pull his leg...

Taps
You have always taken good care to do what is right in any situation. The boys know that but they love you so much and want to let you know you have raised them well.

Well it is a well known fact that older people cannot stand the heat or cold Taps and your son is only thinking of your health and wefare. I hope you wear a sun hat and use plenty of sun cream. I go out early in the morning and only dash in and out during the heat. He is a good lad.

I don't think he was necessarily being bossy, just showing major concern. Sometimes people don't think the heat or high humidity will affect them. I read about incidences like that almost every summer! That's a shame about that elderly couple. However, you play with fire . . .

That is a shame that elderly couple passed away. Like you, I think that people think that it cannot happen to them...What an amazing sight it is.

A beautiful scene of home, and you are so right, if you are not used to the desert heat stay close to your car...I just love the red rock country, but a word of warning, it is much easier to go up these beautiful stone statues than it is to come back down, a cause for many broken bones.

I can't help but wonder if it was a 'bucket list' thing, or even
"If it's the last thing we do..." sort of thing.

I can understand the call of beauty, the desire to be in the wilderness
and imagine a different time without the interference of horns, motors, voices. It's enough to make me wonder if there's more to the lure than just knowing it's out there.
