I do not like the work involved in taking care of animals but will read about them.

I think Grandson and GF need a lesson on how to be considerate of others, especially their soon-to-be Great-granny...

I used to hate drowning kittens and I don't think it is good for the she cat to lose them when she is full of milk. We always kept one but that had its limits. I can't remember much about control. I think the vet just snicked the Tom cats. You know what to do use the iron fist.

I can empathize! My wife recently rescued two kittens ( a brother and sister ) from the side of a road! The first thing on the agenda? Get 'em fixed! Two kittens can easily turn into a dozen kittens! They're cute, but there has to be a limit . . .

i do hope that you don't end up with all those kittens...so do the birds!!! I adore A cat. I find too many dats around sort of unhealthy....I guess I am thinking little old lady and all her cats.

I love cats... ( and dogs and rabbits and anything that is furry and cuddley :-)) and I shudder to think how many of them are put to death in shelters for lack of room and money to feed them.  When we first moved down here to Miami Beach, I was warned about not taking in any strays.  It seems there is a whole cat culture growing under our boardwalk and locals keep adopting the kittens only to find out that taking in one means having a whole bunch of them coming for meals and occasional holidays to your yard.  Of course, after the first city elimination raid to cut the population, I joined the rebels,    and now I am the proud mama of three beautiful identical ones who drive my family bunkers because they never know which one is which.  ( I keep telling them that its not important  lol) and who have friends over all the time.  Charley, Larry and Mo  are all fixed and their friends that come get taken to get snipped as well.  I also try to place them with friends, not an easy task :-(  but mainly I have joined a group that contributes with whatever they can to get the cats spayed instead of killed.  Pull your grandson's ear and take him to the vets office :-)  his  kittens should be fixed...imagine how cute their kittens would be and how sad it would be to have to put down such beautiful animals....and so cruel.  Be well my friend.

Agreeing with Pat,

neutered male as well as female cats live longer and healthier, and are more friendly and cuddly, less prone to both fighting and scent-marking, both of which impinge on the value of your home, and your peace.  And if cost is a factor, many communities do have low-cost clinics.

A quick search of shelter statistics will give them some appalling truths to consider, too: There are too many unwanted cats already.  70% of cats going into shelters are euthenized, and often, it is only to make room for more unwanted cats.

I hear arguments and excuses for not spaying and neutering, but I have never heard one that's good enough.

It's also true that unpruned Tomcats mark 'their' territory and

the odor is there forever. A spayed female is usually healthier, which means the minor cost of the procedures is a useful investment.
