Oh dear Doc. evidently you have never worn men's socks, they feel so much nicer when dried au naturel.

If you have a dryer, you don't need to iron.Just take the clothes out warm and shake and hang them up.

Re: Kabu
Well you see dear., he does not like, or has not heard of ironing, or refuses to do it as it brings back memories of being on a charge.. He was on guard duty and the crease in his overcoat was below standard. Ask any gentleman friend of your age group to explain.Your Mummy really spoiled you.

Re: I'd never thought of putting seven socks on a string...
They don't seem to get holes in them these days Pat. Pity I was so good at darning them.
Better than having one shoe.

Uncle Albert
I agree, it's utterly boring changing socks every day, let alone wash them - that's why I never wear them in the first place! I've always thought they were a strange affectation! And I don't blame your auntie from fleeing that big house - indecent chaps, these butlers! You just can't trust them...

I'd never thought of putting seven socks on a string...
I'd want either six or eight at a time. The string might still come in handy if there's a clothes dryer - I remember big washdays when the boys were young - the washer or the dryer always ate one, so one of the boys would have to go to school with one sock.

Hello Uncle A....archie is right, your pegs will rust especially in the damp English weather. Tell CC to hang the expense and get a dryer for you all.
My Mother always had wooden dolly pegs. Sister and I would be allowed to take one each and turn them into a doll to play with. make some clothes and paint on a little smiley face.
